THE CONCEPT OF OLD AGE HOMES (India)

PLOT I- A son is leaving his dad in an old age home (Movie: Lage Raho Munna bhai)
PLOT II- A father trying hard and breaking que just to secure a bed for his toddler son in a place meant for homeless people (Movie: The Pursuit Of Happyness)

I used to wonder how can a society decide (or dictate) the elders not to be in the society or to have a different society when the fact is that elders has always been the backbone of society. And the more important question for me was how can government make a place for old aged people? I mean its like encouraging the so called children to send the parents in old age home? Just like we have bars to drink and enjoy in a particular atmosphere how can one decide that now parents are aged so they don't belong in homes (which they built)? I had many questions like this until I got the privilege to visit one of the old age home recently (thanks to my friends). After talking the authorities and people living there, now I have no questions at all. But I do have answers, many answers. I realized a truth:

Actually there was no place titled 'old age home' at the first place. This place was actually meant for the homeless people. But as homeless people are so much addicted or trained to begging that they don't prefer to live there or they have no awareness that there is such scheme for them. But as per the information given, they do have the awareness but don't they avail it. So somehow this place turned into the place for old aged people and there are people of all the religion living under one roof, sharing meals, laughter, tears; in short LIFE.

I wanted to  write about the people living there too but I have realized that few feelings are worth to  be felt then to be jotted down.
